Taiga Motors Rallies from Near Bankruptcy with New Model & Big Plans for 2026

Taiga WX-3 PWC

Canada's electric PWC builder Taiga Motors has returned from the brink of bankruptcy with an all-new model and ambitious plans for 2026.

Taiga represents one of Canada's most forward-thinking marine companies and was responsible for getting the first electric PWC to market. The company went public with investor backing in 2021, launched its first model the Taiga Orca in 2022, but was ultimately sold to UK entrepreneur Stewart Wilkinson in late 2024 after a series of financial hardships. Wilkinson is the figurehead of multiple electric marine companies including Vita, Evoy, and Aqua superPower.

The company resumed production of its electric PWC lineup after restructuring in May of this year.

Now the LaSalle, Quebec PWC maker is launching a bold new model for 2026 - the Orca WX3.

“Where the industry sees challenges in electrification, we see possibility through innovation” said Samuel Bruneau, CEO of Taiga in a press release. “With the launch of our 2026 Orca lineup and breakthrough digital features, we’re showing that electric watercraft can set a new benchmark for performance, value, and adventure.”

Compared to the company's existing Orca and Orca 2 platforms, the Orca WX3 is a complete 3-seater design with additional capabilities as a crossover platform.

The WX3’s extended hull provides exceptional stability, whether cruising or casting from the rear deck, and is quicker to get on plane than Taiga's smaller designs. A reinforced tow system and accessory-ready rear platform provide the capability for wakeboarding, waterskiing, tubing, and fishing setups -- a rarity among PWCs. The new three-person seat has been ergonomically designed for multi-rider comfort and lowers the center of gravity for more confident handling.

A new onboard mapping system will also allow riders to view live location and navigate directly from their dash. Geofencing allows owners to set boundaries or limit speed in specific areas — ideal for safety in busy waterways or for fleet operators managing large groups. Families and tour operators can also configure custom power and speed limits, tailoring performance to different experience levels. Shareable digital keys are also an option, allowing owners to grant or restrict access to specific users. Also new for 2026 as an add-on is an integrated premium audio speaker system with Bluetooth connectivity.

The new WX3 will be powered by the company's well-known 120 kW battery pack producing roughly 160 horsepower. The package offers about two hours of ride time per charge with average use, and about 90 minutes at high throttle. The latest fast-charging capability can reduce charge time to around 30 minutes.

One of her standout features is bidirectional charging, which turns the PWC into a mobile energy source. With the ability to discharge power back out, rather than only in, the Orca can support a home during an outage, recharge equipment at the dock, power hotel loads onboard yachts, or even bring power to an off-grid cabin. Also for 2026, all Orca models will be equipped with automotive-grade fast charging using CCS1 in North America and CCS2 in Europe. This means riders can plug into the same widespread fast-charging networks used by electric cars.

The 2026 Orca lineup, including the WX3, will offer several new colour schemes -- Miami Blue, Monte Carlo Red, and Titanium Pink.

The 2026 Orca WX3 will start at $23,999 USD.
