Sunreef and BRABUS Unveil First Yacht From Luxury Partnership


Nearly two years after announcing a strategic partnership, Sunreef Yachts and BRABUS have revealed their first production model from their luxury collaboration: the BRABUS ULTIMA 55.


The luxury high-performance power catamaran blends Sunreef's well-known multihull expertise with the German performance brand's signature design language.


The new model is based on Sunreef's existing ULTIMA 55 platform but represents the first yacht produced under the Sunreef x BRABUS partnership announced at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show. At the time, both companies said they intended to develop a new line of luxury motor catamarans and eventually expand the collaboration with additional models in the future.



According to Sunreef, the BRABUS ULTIMA 55 combines the stability and interior volume of a catamaran with the performance characteristics typically associated with a monohull sports yacht. The 55-foot (17 m) vessel carries an 18'5" (5.6 m) beam and is powered by twin 725-horsepower six-cylinder inboard engines capable of a top speed over 40 knots (46 mph). The yacht also incorporates what the company called "advanced foiling technology" designed to reduce drag, improve efficiency, and enhance ride comfort at speed.


The exterior styling incorporates signature elements taken directly from BRABUS' extensive automotive portfolio. The German-based aftermarket tuning company has done several projects with the likes of Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, and Bentley. BRABUS's input into the ULTIMA 55 includes carbon fiber detailing and illuminated BRABUS badging throughout, while other signature features include fold-down terraces at the stern expand the available deck space at anchor, an outdoor entertaining area with adjustable sunpads, a wet bar, electric barbecue, and a carbon-fiber dining table.


Down below, owners can choose between a two cabin or three cabin layout. Keynote interior features include BRABUS' Moonstone Masterpiece leather upholstery, Alcantara headlining, carbon-fiber trim, a panoramic helm interface, and a Bowers & Wilkins Marine Series audio system.


"Partnering with BRABUS allows us to explore a new, entirely unique level of bespoke elegance for our catamarans," Sunreef Yachts Founder and President Francis Lapp said in a company statement. "By combining our experience in designing luxurious, custom-built multihulls with BRABUS' unmistakable signature style, we are creating products that will redefine luxury on the water."



BRABUS Owner and CEO Constantin Buschmann said the project marks another step in the company's growing marine portfolio.


"As we continue the BRABUS Marine journey with our award-winning Shadow range, we're excited to be expanding our portfolio into the world of high-end luxury catamarans together with Sunreef Yachts," Buschmann said. "To us, it's all about setting new standards."


Sunreef and BRABUS first announced their partnership in October 2024 during an exclusive event at the Monaco Yacht Club. At the time, the companies revealed plans to create not only a premium series of performance catamarans starting with the ULTIMA 55, but to also expand the partnership to more models in the future.


As for BRABUS, the Sunreef project is the latest in a series of marine initiatives with several major brands.


The company has continued expanding its BRABUS Shadow lineup alongside Finnish builder Axopar. Most recently, BRABUS introduced the Shadow 1500 Stealth Green Edition, featuring a distinctive military-inspired exterior finish and twin Mercury Racing 600 V12 outboards for a top speed over 50 knots (57 mph).


BRABUS has also delved into the larger yacht market through a partnership with Italian builder AB Yachts to create an entirely new range of high-performance luxury yachts.


They have even developed limited edition luxury watches to match their nautical projects.
