Manitou Pontoons & NFL's Kirk Cousins Collab for 'Family Escape'

NFL quarterback Kirk Cousins and Manitou Pontoons have released an epic collab called 'Family Escape.'

The Atlanta Falcons starting QB connected with the Michigan boat company when he picked up his all-new Manitou Explore Switchback 24 MAX.

Cousins has had a long and impressive career in the NFL already, and just signed on for another four years with the Falcons after spending six years with the Washington Redskins and another six with the Minnesota Vikings.

Cousins is an Illinois native, but has a strong Michigan connection thanks to his stellar college career at Michigan State. He spends time in Saugatuck, Michigan every summer before heading off for training camp. This off-season has been a little different, though, as the veteran quarterback is rehabbing from rupturing Achilles tendon during a Week 8 matchup with the Green Bay Packers in October 2023.

"Most of the year I'm working. I'm not close to a lake or water. So I view being able to come back to Michigan and get on my pontoon as the reward for all of that hard work," said Cousins.

He'll be heading into the 2024 season as the new starting QB for the Falcons after signing a four-year deal. Cousins already ranks 5th all-time in completion percentage and 8th in the NFL's all-time career passer rating. He also has four Pro Bowl selections and holds two impressive records that are testament to his passion for the game -- the most game-winning drives in a single season (8), and the most fourth quarter comebacks in a single season (8).

"It's a real privilege when you get to the dock, get on the boat, and know you're headed out to the lake. There are few better feelings."

The Lansing-based Manitou Pontoons has been in in business since 1985 and carries a sterling reputation in the pontoon market as a luxury builder that provides some of the best all-around platforms for families.

"We are thrilled to welcome Kirk Cousins to the Manitou family," said Jeremi Doyon-Roch, Global Brand Strategy Director, Marine at BRP, in a press release.

With Cousins on board, Manitou is inviting more people to join the boating community by tapping into the enthusiasm and passion of fans to create memorable experiences both on and off the water.

"Kirk's extensive experience with boating, his cherished lake house retreat, and his dedication to family align perfectly with our brand values. We are excited to partner with Kirk to showcase his Manitou Explore MAX Dual Rotax S and inspire new adventures for outdoor enthusiasts."

Cousins and his family will be cruising Michigan waters aboard a Manitou Explore Switchback 24' MAX powered by dual Rotax S150 HP outboard engines and iDock joystick piloting. Equipped with trifold benches, a MAX Deck unlocks 6 feet of length at the stern and LED cupholder lighting. The Explore MAX further enhances the onboard entertainment with a Fusion Premium Sound System.

Cousins' boat has a unique carbon blue interior and white exterior, complemented by matte black powder coat tubes and gray teak flooring, create a sleek and sophisticated aesthetic.

"Arguably the best part about having a boat is the freedom you're afforded. On a boat I feel so free. You know you're able to go wherever you want. The bigger the lake the better. It feels like the limits are removed. That's probably my favourite part about owning a boat, is the freedom of the adventure. And it's something we can all do. It's something we can all share in. It's not just 'dad' driving the boat, we're all there together. We eliminate a lot of distractions and it can just be about our family and God's creation," he said.

"I'm a maximizer, so if we have a day on a boat, I'm gonna do just about everything that boat allows for."

Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons will open Week 1 of the NFL season at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 8th.
