Innovative Finnish boatbuilder Axopar has entered the electric foray with the launch of an all-electric sub-brand named AX/E Boats.
The new brand will utilize Evoy electric outboards, of which Axopar purchased a 10% stake in 2023.
Axopar has quickly gained steam in the North American market, thanks in part to a unique design philosophy that breaks the contemporary mould. Offshore and big water design considerations, like a vertical bow and narrower hull shape, have made them appealing across coastal markets. As dealer numbers have increased they've also seen mainstream success with the likes of NBA's Klay Thompson becoming an unofficial ambassador by taking his Axopar 37 Cabin to and from games in San Francisco.
The company has typically uses the Cannes Yachting Festival to release new models, having showcased five new models last year, and has now made a similar splash with the launch of AX/E.
"Ten years ago, when we launched Axopar, our vision was to revolutionize the market with something genuinely unique," says Jan-Erik Viitala, Head of Innovation and Founding Partner of Axopar.
"With AX/E, we're advancing that mission by offering a new, sustainable way to experience the water, without compromise. AX/E goes beyond electric propulsion; it’s about creating lasting memories and setting the course for the future of electric boating. Thanks to our collaboration with Evoy, we’ve elevated this vision, seamlessly merging high-performance with sustainability to deliver the best of both worlds."
The new AX/E lineup will start with the AX/E 22 and AX/E 25, both electric variations of the gas-powered Axopar 22 Range and 25 Range.
The AX/E 22 is powered by the Evoy Outboard Breeze 120+ hp motor, delivering 90 kW of continuous power and 137 kW of peak power. This electric motor allows the boat to reach speeds of up to 36 knots and offers a range of +50 nautical miles on a single charge—ideal for day trips along the coast. The figures correlate to a continuous power of 120 hp (90 kW) and an 'overboost' power of over 180 hp (135 kW peak). Battery capacity is 63 kWh and can recharge in under one hour using a DC fast charger.
The AX/E 22 Cross Bow & Cross Top
The AX/E 22 will be available in two configurations, Spyder and T-Top, which allows for personalized details to match any boating lifestyle. It will carry an LOA of 7.2 m (23'7") with a 2.2 m beam (7'3")
Equipped with the E-Brain Management System, the AX/E 22 offers real-time data on battery health, range, and motor performance. The system’s over-the-air updates ensure that the boat stays up to date by continually improving its functionality without the need for hardware changes.
The AX/E 25 Cross Bow & Cross Top
The AX/E 25 is powered by the Evoy Outboard Storm 300+ hp motor, providing 225 kW of continuous power and 450 kW of peak power, making it capable of reaching speeds over 50 knots. The figures correlate to a continuous power of 300 hp (225 kW) and an 'overboost' power of over 600 hp (450 kW peak). Like the AX/E 22", The AX/E 25 also benefits from over-the-air updates, which keep the system constantly evolving and improving over time. Battery capacity is 126 kWh and can recharge from 10% to 80% in 45 minutes using a supercharger.
The AX/E 25 carries an LOA of 8 m (25') with a 2.2 m beam (7'3"). It will be available in two configurations -- Cross Bow and Cross Top -- and includes a cuddy cabin below deck.
According to the company, AX/E offers more than just a commitment to sustainability. It also offers whisper-quiet operation, instant torque, and seamless power delivered by its electric motors that creates a new way to experience boating—one that is silent, powerful, efficient, and environmentally conscious.
“Our collaboration with Axopar on the AX/E line brings our vision of ‘irresistible boating’ to life—delivering an electric experience so thrilling that heading back out on the water becomes a must, ” said Leif Stavøstrand, CEO of Evoy Motors.
“Axopar, the innovators of adventure boating, have set the standard in this segment. Together, we’re showing that electric boating can provide the performance, excitement, and sustainability adventure boaters demand. The AX/E series represents a new era where performance and sustainability go hand in hand.”
The initial sales introduction of the AX/E range of boats will be primarily within Europe, and in locations where there is proper infrastructure for electric boats, and where we can also ensure support from Evoy’s customer service. Interested buyers in Europe and North America can reach out to their local Axopar dealer about how they can get access to AX/E in 2025 and beyond.
