Finland's Saxdor Yachts is one of several Nordic manufacturers making headway in the U.S. market. The stylings among European builders has found tremendous appeal in the North American market, and their predilection for delivering sleek, seaworthy boats continues to attract buyers.

The company's impressive 320 GTO made our shortlist for Best Boat of 2021.

Saxdor's latest offering - the all-new Saxdor 270 GTO, will find eager eyes in the North American market.

With a smart balance of compact day boating features mixed with weekending capability, the new 270 will appeal to the largest segment of recreational boaters -- those in the 18-28 foot range. Made with lightweight construction thanks to modern vacuum infusion technology, the 270 GTO will be easily trailerable, which will position the boat well for those looking for a more luxurious dayboat or for those dipping their toe into overnighting or extended travel.

But first, Europeans will get their glimpse when the 270 GTO makes its first public appearance at the upcoming Boot Düsseldorf show in Germany from January 21st-28th.

North Americans will get their chance shortly thereafter during the upcoming trade show season. Currently, there are only a handful of dealers in North America, although that won't be the case for long. BCI Marine, one of Canada's premier distributors and industry leaders, is the sole Canadian distributor.

As for the design itself, the 270 GTO carries an LOA of 27'7" (8.45m) with a 8'6" (2.6m) beam. It has a modest draught of 36" (0.92m) and is rated for up to 300 horsepower with a 300 liter (79 gal) fuel tank and a top speed of 45 knots (52 mph). Power options come via Mercury 225, 250, or 300 hp outboards.

Sakari Mattila, the founder and chief designer of Saxdor Yachts, as well as the founder of Axopar, XO, Aquador, and Paragon, said in a statement: “The 200 and 320 have proved extremely popular with customers. With great excitement, we introduce the 270 GTO to the market. With the same focus on performance, design, and value for money, this boat is one of the most versatile in its category. 270 and coming 400 model range are the next steps of the Saxdor fleet.”

Saxdor Group CEO Erna Rusi aldo added: “The new SX270 will nicely expand our fleet, offering more yet again 'more bang for the buck' – it’s a fantastic boat in its range! With the upcoming SX 400 GTC, we’ll be able to offer a comprehensive boating experience to every type of customer need.”

Given Saxdor's design aesthetic utilizing a wide-open maindeck with high sidewalls, passengers will find plenty of space to move freely throughout the boat. There is ample space in the bow lounge with access from either side, and the helm station offers seating for up to five, including two reversible captain and co-captain chairs that can be rotated to face the stern lounge. The stern lounge itself also boasts a full-size wet bar with an 80L freshwater system. A glass fence separating the stern from the transom is a unique touch that provides the necessary safety while also giving the impression of a larger lounging area. Two foldable sunbeds at can also convert into a quaint dining area for sunset meals.

Below deck, a modest berth sleeps two and provides all the basics for overnight accommodations. Natural skylight hatches add noticeable sunlight and air flow, while optional amenities like a complete head, sink, and shower provide all the necessities for extended trips. Ample storage is found all around the cabin area.

Pricing for the North American market is still TBD, although European prices begin at a very modest €77,500 +VAT for the 225 hp package.
