Premium boutique boatbuilder Wajer Yachts has unveiled the new Wajer 55 with a mysterious video on social media.
The new design carries an LOA of 55' even (16.8 m) with a 15'3" beam (4.65 m) and a 4'2" (1.27 m) draught. She is rated for up to 20 passengers.
Wajer, based in Heeg, Netherlands, has entered the American market with momentum. The increase in exposure and reputation has been helped by strong marketing and a unique design approach that sets it apart from others contenders in the category. NFL champion Tom Brady has appeared in videos with the company and made headlines with the purchase of a Wajer 77 -- the flagship model in the fleet.
The new Wajer 55 will be a refined evolution of the acclaimed 2016 original model. The latest iteration is designed for those seeking weekend adventures with family in comfort and style.
With the capability to traverse the Mediterranean or accommodate short-term stays on a local waterway, the new Wajer 55 has the characteristically sleek, elongated silhouette from the bow to the stern found on all Wajer designs. A singular body line runs from the bow, over the carbon fiber windshield, and down to the integrated swim platform. The flared bow and tapered stern are also signature elements of the Wajer design philosophy. According to the company, the 55 now bears the same stylistic profile as the 77.
"We didn't just update the Wajer 55; we took our time to design a completely new boat—approximately 90% of it is new. We went all out to make the boat as beautiful as possible, hiding even the slightest distractions like small hinges, enhancing the interior with fine materials, and adding many refinements and increased detailing,” said Dries Wajer, CEO of Wajer Yachts.
Signature performance features include intuitive technology like Volvo-Penta’s joystick-controlled IPS propulsion system, a Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) that holds heading and location automatically, and touchscreen-controlled fender and anchor systems. The new model is powered by triply Volvo Penta D6-IPS600 440 hp inboards.
Other high-tech features characteristic of Wajer include automatic fenders, flush cleats, and a retractable anchor arm -- all of which create a sleek minimalist look with most protrusions hidden within the body of the boat. Hidden hinges and a custom-designed steering wheel add to the vessel’s smooth lines. New teak decking patterns and a knuckle line that visually lowers the freeboard offer both form and function. Below deck, new materials like stitched upholstered panels and warm wood veneers create an ultra-modern atmosphere.
Overall functionality is enhanced by an upgraded tender garage and extendable swim platform, which now features an integrated launch system for deploying the onboard Williams Turbo Jet tender. This allows owners to explore shallow areas unreachable by the main vessel, while the adjustable platform ensures easy access and boarding.
Performance-wise, the yacht’s deep V-hull features widened spray rails and extended proportions to deliver a smooth and dry ride even in rough seas. Available with triple Volvo-Penta IPS 600 or 650 engines, the Wajer 55 is nimble and quiet. Extensive onboard sound insulation also helps dampen engine noise to ensure those up top are enjoying nature. The 55 boasts a top speed of 38 knots with a cruising speed of 28 knots and a range of 390 nautical miles using a 621 gallon (2320 liter) fuel tank.
The cockpit layout centers around two retractable tables, premium seating, and a symmetrical deck arrangement. Garmin multi-function displays and a custom gunmetal-finished steering wheel give the captain a unique command post. A carbon EX-CORE windshield wraps the cockpit.
"The best compliment I ever had from a client was that we changed their way of living, that they got a life around their Wajer 55 and opened up a whole new chapter. That's core to the Wajer 55 – my vision was to build something very beautiful, something you can drive yourself and stay over on the weekend with friends or family,” Dries Wajer added.
A signature perk of Wajer ownership is the Wajer Care program, which provides global service, year-round maintenance, and around-the-clock support. Services can also include arranging a captain or planning a custom itinerary across Europe or the U.S.. You can get the first look in the video below:
