The National Marine Manufacturer's Association (NMMA) has announced they have acquired the rights to the Mid-Atlantic Boat Show. The event takes place annually in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Charlotte Convention Center.
The news marks the first acquisition by NMMA after selling some of their other tradeshow properties in recent years.
NMMA now owns several keynote events in the annual tradeshow calendar. Their other properties include the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show and the International Boatbuilders Exhibition & Conference (IBEX), which takes place in Tampa, Florida.
They also own several other events in their tradeshow portfolio, including boat shows in Chicago, New England, Atlanta, Charlotte, Cleveland, Detroit, New York, and more.
In a press release, the association said acquiring the Mid-Atlantic Boat Show underscores their commitment to the long-term value of boat shows, particularly in large and emerging markets, which are vital to the long term success of the industry and its partners. Now in its 52nd year, the Mid-Atlantic Boat Show is the Carolinas' largest boating event.
“The Mid-Atlantic Boat Show is the premier boating event in the region and offers significant opportunities to connect with target audiences, boost sales, and support regional advocacy efforts,” said Frank Hugelmeyer, NMMA president and CEO.
“With its location in one of the nation’s top boating markets, the show has the potential to attract a diverse range of prospective buyers. Leveraging Discover Boating’s marketing expertise, we are eager to collaborate with the recreational marine industry in the Carolinas to elevate this event for both the industry and exhibitors.”
Les Gray, president of Southeast Productions, commented on the transition, saying, “For more than 50 years, the Mid-Atlantic Boat Show has showcased the best of the marine industry to Charlotte and the surrounding areas. NMMA’s proven success in producing high-quality boat shows across the country—spanning Chicago, Atlanta, New York, and Miami—makes them the ideal organization to take this show to the next level. We are confident it will remain the Carolinas’ leading boating sales event for years to come.”
The 2025 Mid-Atlantic Boat Show will run from February 6th-9th at the Charlotte Convention Center. It will be managed by NMMA’s Darren Envall, Vice President of Midwest/Mid-South Shows, with Nate Gaw serving as Sales Manager.
