Mercury Marine Canada Appoints New GM

Mercury Marine has announced the promotion of Richard Straka to General Manager of Mercury Canada.

Mercury Canada, a subsidiary of Mercury Marine and a division of Brunswick Corporation, has been helping to lead the charge industry-wide with several major advancements in the last two years.

“I’m thrilled to be taking on my new role. We have exceptional Mercury and Land ‘N’ Sea teams that are ready to work with our channel partners to deliver great experiences for Canadian boaters and I’m looking forward to the 2024 boat show season to connect with industry participants and the public," Straka told BoatBlurb.

In 2023 alone, Mercury Marine successfully launched its new line of electric outboards, the Avator series amd garnered major attention with the launch of the V10 Verado.

The Canadian division has been consistently in sync with its American counterpart to serve the Canadian market.

Straka joined Mercury in 2021 and had been serving as the company's director of supply chain and operations strategy prior to the move. He previously held positions at GE Capital and Wells Fargo.

“I have enjoyed working with the Canadian marine industry for many years and have witnessed the excellence and innovation that Mercury delivers to the market,” Straka said in a company statement. “I am proud to be part of a talented and dedicated team that is committed to serving our customers and supporting marine businesses and activities across Canada.”

Straka will succeed Jonathan Levine, who will transition to Vice President & General Manager of regional operations for Freedom Boat Club, another entity of Brunswick Corporation.

Mercury Marine USA also announced a new president earlier in 2023 when John Buelow was promoted to the company's Executive Vice President.
