La Dolce Vita! 'Uber Boat' and 'Uber Copter' Launches in Italy This Summer

Uber has launched their much-hyped 'Uber Boat' program on Italy's popular Amalfi Coast for summer 2025.

Uber Copter and Uber Boat will be available to reserve through the Uber app from anywhere in Italy beginning on Wednesday, June 25th, with a minimum of 48 hours in advance. The summer services will run every Saturday and Sunday from July 26th to August 24th.

The rideshare program first announced plans for Uber Boat across Europe in mid-2024. The initial launch includes trials for Uber Boat, Uber Yacht, and Uber Cruise in major cities like Paris, Ibiza, Venice, and Athens.

With more than 5 million annual visitors to the Amalfi Coast each year, the launch of Uber Boat and Uber Copter will include private, round-trip getaways to Capri by helicopter, luxury cruises along the Amalfi Coast, and a new way to beat the airport crowds with scheduled rides.

Uber Copter will allow travelers to pre-book private helicopter transfers between Sorrento and Capri directly through the Uber app. Departing from an exclusive helipad in Sorrento, the service will offer groups of up to 6 people a luxurious day trip to Capri in a dual-engine, dual-pilot helicopter for €250 per person. Transfers to and from the helicopter are included from anywhere on the Amalfi Coast. 

Those looking to experience the Coast’s blue waters can use Uber Boat to discover the area with private charters for up to 12 people. Setting sail from Sorrento Marina, guests will be treated to a 4-hour cruise along the coastline in an Italian Gozzo 35 boat. Each trip includes its own personal skipper and complimentary snacks and beverages. 

Uber will also be expanding its ground transport options by launching an additional scheduled ride product – Uber Reserve – along the Amalfi Coast. With the ability to reserve rides in advance, travelers can beat the busy summer crowds following the launch of international flights to nearby Salerno Airport.

With the trio of new travel products launching i Italy this summer, Uber ais exploring new ways to offer unique transport options outside of its traditional ride share template. Company data from summer 2024 shows the demand from international customers for Uber’s mobility services increased last year by up to 25% in places like Rome, Lake Como and the Amalfi Coast. More than 400,000 international customers used the Uber app in Italy last summer, with 60,000 people opening the Uber app on the Amalfi Coast in the past 12 months alone. 

Those heading for a summer destination outside of Italy may also want to consider Uber Yacht in Ibiza or Uber Cruise in Paris.

In Ibiza, boaters and tourists can pre-book a private yacht experience via the Uber app. The 'Uber Yacht' departs from the Ibiza Town Marina and offers groups up to 8 people a tour around the island. Guests can enjoy a full yacht experience, complete with a personal skipper, food and drink service, champagne, and transport to and from the yacht via an Uber vehicle.

During the 2024 summer Olympics in Paris, Uber Cruise offered free one-hour private tours down the River Seine aboard a pontoon boat. The tours included views of the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and Notre Dame, among others.
