Burgeoning British engine builder Cox Marine has passed EPA testing on their 350 hp V8 diesel outboard.
With its passing of EPA Tier III testing approval for commercial and recreational usage, the builder of the world's largest diesel outboard can now open its order book.

In a press release, Cox Marine CEO Gavin Wessen said: “Achieving EPA Tier III recognition is a major step forward that gives us the green light to start production and take orders for this highly anticipated engine. The 350 V8 is a game-changer for the marine industry, offering unmatched fuel efficiency, power, safety, and optimal weight and efficiently powers high-displacement vessels across both recreational and commercial sectors.”
The 350 hp variant was first introduced to the public at the Miami International Boat Show in February, giving a broad spectrum of the boating audience a chance to see the platform in person. The 350 hp diesel variant is the second outboard from the company after first introducing a 300 hp trin turbo V8 model in 2018.
Cox Marine has been extremely busy in other regards over the last 12 months as well. They set the diesel outboard speed record at 67.95 mph at an event in December 2023, even while using the pre-existing 300 hp variant. They also announced the launch of rigging for diesel outboards in partnership with Dometic Marine in November 2023.
“The V8 marked the dawn of a new era in outboard technology, offering a unique propulsion solution designed specifically for the marine industry. The 350 V8 showcases the potential of this platform with its advanced capabilities, setting a new standard for marine propulsion," added Adam Gurr, Product Portfolio Director at Cox Marine.
The company has publicly stated that their order book is now open and interested buyers can contact them directly regarding purchasing.
