Another longstanding brand in the BRP portfolio is moving on as the Canadian manufacturer sells off its Manitou Pontoons division to Bentley Pontoons.
The well-known Manitou Pontoon brand, based in Lansing, Michigan, and all its related assets will be sold to the Marcott family, the owners of Bentley Pontoons, based in South Carolina.
Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is one of the largest powersports conglomerates in the world but announced in October 2024 they would be selling off their entire marine business portfolio. In the months since, BRP has sold their Alumacraft brand to the Bryton Marine Group, the largest privately owned aluminum boat builder in America, and unloaded their Telwater brand in Australia to Yamaha Motor Australia.
In June, longstanding BRP CEO José Boisjoli announced he would be stepping down by the end of 2025. BRP has stated since the announcement of their marine portfolio restructuring that they would be focusing on the Sea-Doo brand and their large portfolio powersports and jet propulsion products. BRP currently owns the powersports brands including Can-Am and Ski-Doo, as well as the popular jet boat and PWC brand Sea-Doo. Currently, one in every three powersports vehicles sold worldwide carries the BRP logo.
In its 2025 financial results, BRP reported a decline in revenue and profits, citing economic turmoil and global tariff disputes as contributing factors. The company also announced it would not provide financial guidance for fiscal year 2026. In June, BRP revealed it was laying off 61 workers at its global headquarters in Sturtevant, Wisconsin.
“Today marks another key step in our process to sell our marine businesses,” said José Boisjoli, president and CEO of BRP in a press release. “I am proud of the strong foundation we have built for Manitou, and I sincerely thank all employees and dealers for their commitment and resilience over the years. I wish them the very best in this next journey.”
The Marcott family confirmed that Manitou production will continue at the existing Lansing, Michigan facility and current employees will be retained.
“We are committed to ensuring the continuity of the Manitou brand and we intend to further its reputation for performance, quality and service within the industry, while continuing to support dealers’ needs and success,” said Dennis Marcott, manager and member of the Marcott family, in a press release.
“We will keep building Manitou boats in the existing Lansing facility, and are looking forward to welcoming talented employees as part of the team.”
The transaction is expected to close during BRP’s third fiscal quarter of 2026.
