After announcing the launch of the all-new 38 Range at Palm Beach in March, Finnish boat builder Axopar has introduced the second model in the series - the 38 Sun Top - expanding on the platform first launched with the 38 XC Cross Cabin earlier this year.
The 38 Sun Top is designed around an open-air layout focused on socializing, watersports, and day boating while retaining the same twin-stepped hull platform and modular design philosophy found across the new Axopar 38 lineup.
The boat features a redesigned cockpit with configurable seating arrangements, including individual helm seats, a forward-facing U-sofa that converts into a sunbed, and a reversible driver’s sofa. Optional bulwark seating increases onboard capacity, while foldable aft platforms and configurable aft deck layouts support swimming, watersports, and gear loading.
The stern will be available in three layouts - Open Aft (standard), Wet Bar, and Cockpit U-Sofa. Two additional upgraded editions will also be available, one dubbed the Mediterranean Edition and the other by after-market tuning company Brabus.
Power will come with standard twin outboards at 300 hp each with an optional upgrade to twin 350 hp engines.
“Boating has never been about the journey alone — it is about the people you share it with. The Axopar 38 Sun Top is built around that simple idea, giving owners the freedom to shape their experience on the water while staying true to the performance and quality that define the range," said Jan-Erik Viitala, Axopar Founding Partner, in a press release.
A sliding canvas roof is integrated into the Sun Top structure, allowing the helm and cockpit to be opened to the elements or sheltered depending on weather conditions. Optional roll-down canopies can further enclose the space while maintaining visibility and airflow.
Below deck, the front cabin carries over several features introduced on the 38 XC Cross Cabin, including increased headroom, optional gullwing doors, a kitchen module, and an optional enclosed toilet and shower compartment.

The 38 Sun Top rides on Axopar’s updated 20-degree twin-stepped V hull, which the company says has been redesigned for improved hydrodynamics, weight distribution, and low and high-speed handling. The platform also incorporates a reinforced stringer system intended to improve rigidity and reduce onboard noise levels while underway.
Other perks include an improved lithium power bank, as well as an optional integration between the Mercury JPO system and bow thruster. An optional 'XL Fuel Tank' increased capacity up to 1000 liters (264 gallons) for extended offshore adventuring.
Other options available later in 2026 once the boat is in production include a leaning post, livewell, dinette and sun lounge package, aft deck gates, a gyro stabilization system, variable 7k BTU air conditioning, and a diesel heater.
The Sun Top joins the 38 XC Cross Cabin in the company’s new 38 range, with a third model, the 38 Cross Top, scheduled for release later in 2026.
