Axopar Completes 38 Range With All-New Cross Top
Axopar has completed its latest 38 Range with the introduction of the Axopar 38 Cross Top, a model positioned between the fully enclosed 38 XC Cross Cabin and open 38 Sun Top.
The Finnish boatbuilder unveiled the new model at the recent Cannes Yachting Festival, culminating the new 38 Range first announced in late 2025. The Cross Top will be part of the three-model 38 platform in which all three models share the same hull, deck plan, engine options and modular interior, with the option of choosing between a fully enclosed pilothouse or two open-air variations.
The Cross Top uses a forward-tilting wraparound windshield to shelter the helm and forward section, while leaving the cockpit and aft deck open. Optional roll-down canopies provide additional protection during harsher conditions.
“Our ambition was never simply to design three different models. It was to build one platform capable of serving genuinely different ways of boating, without asking anyone to compromise to get there. The Cross Cabin, Sun Top and Cross Top are three distinct ways to experience the water, sharing the same Axopar DNA," said Jan-Erik Viitala, Founding Partner, Axopar.
A 38-Foot Modular Platform
The 38 Cross Top measures 38'11" LOA (11.85 m), excluding the engines, with a 11'7" (3.53 m) beam and an estimated weight of 11,684 lbs (5,300 kg) excluding engines.
Passenger capacity is rated at 10 people in Category B and 12 in Category C. Standard fuel capacity is 830 litres (219 gallons), with an optional upgraded 1,000 litre (264-gallon) tank. Axopar lists a maximum speed of 45+ knots (51.8 mph) and twin outboard power options from 300 hp to 425 hp per engine.
The boat uses Axopar's twin-stepped 20-degree V “Sharp entry hull,” with an integrated engine bracket and an overbuilt stringer system. Standard equipment also includes a 360-degree walkaround deck, self-draining open aft deck, joystick-controlled trim tabs and noise-reduction measures.
Power options include twin Mercury V8 300 hp and V10 350 hp engines, along with a V10 425 hp upgraded configuration.
Multiple Layouts
Modularity is a central focus within the Cross Top. At the bow, the standard setup uses forward-facing seating while options include a sun lounge or a U-shaped sofa with a removable table that can convert into a sunbed.
Below deck, the front cabin combines a lounge and sleeping area with substantial headroom for standing height. A galley station includes a sink, faucet, and five drawers, while space is provided for a refrigerator, coffee machine, and microwave. An enclosed head compartment and shower are available options.
The cockpit can also be configured with individual sports seats, sofas, or a U-shaped sofa arrangement. The optional U-sofa can convert into a sunbed using an electric hi-lo table. The aft deck can also be configured with a wet bar, bench seating, dinette and sun lounge, or with an aft cabin. Foldable activity platforms are also available.
Other options include Burnewiin gunwale mounts, a bow thruster with optional Mercury JPO integration, improved lithium power-bank solutions, and the 1,000 litre XL fuel tank.
Completing the 38 Lineup
The Cross Top follows the launch of the 38 XC Cross Cabin earlier in 2026. Axopar first introduced the new 38 Range in North America at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, describing the 38 as the successor to its popular and well-known 37 Range. At the time, Axopar said the 38 Sun Top and Cross Top would follow later in the year.
The 38 Sun Top was subsequently as the second model, introducing an open-air configuration focused on socializing and watersports. Its configurable cockpit includes individual helm seats, a U-sofa that converts to a sunbed, and an optional reversible driver's sofa. The model also introduced three stern configurations: Open Aft, Wet Bar, and Cockpit U-Sofa.
Axopar originally announced the broader 38 Range in September 2025 along with plans to expand its BRABUS Performance Line, marking the continued success of the Finnish builder pairing up with the German aftermarket tuning company.
The three 38 models now form a lineup ranging from the enclosed 38 XC Cross Cabin, through the partially sheltered 38 Cross Top, to the open 38 Sun Top.
Axopar lists the starting price for the 38 Cross Top with twin Mercury V8 Verado 300-hp engines at €197,800 (roughly $230,000 USD), excluding VAT. The twin Mercury V10 Verado 350 hp version starts at €212,770 (roughly $245,000 USD) also excluding VAT.
