The new Zodiac eOPEN series will come in four different layouts with Torqeedo power options

Industry leading RIB manufacturer Zodiak has announced a new line entitled the eOPEN series comprised entirely of electric-powered options for 2022. Engines will be supplied by prominent German electric manufacturer Torqeedo. The eOPEN line will include 4-seater and 6-seater boats ranging from 10'2" to 11'2"and are set to debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival September 7th-12th.

Zodiac has been actively developing several new products including the launch of the new Mini Open series for 2021.

According to Zodiac product marketing manager Fanny Revert-Ciavattin, "We have designed this range for today's and tomorrow's consumers. Today's pleasure boats are not accessible to all and have many obstacles: the long-term cost, maintenance, repair, ecological awareness, noise... In order to respond to these issues, it became important and urgent to imagine a range that would be part of a future-oriented approach. 100% electric, these 2 new models meet the new needs of customers: No maintenance, no noise, no servicing, less pollution, simple and responsive driving, and an affordable price. Electric mobility is gaining ground all around us, and as the market leader in RIBs, we couldn't afford to miss out! Torqeedo was the ideal partner to develop these new products."

The new boats are expected to have about 50 minutes of range at an average speed of 12 knots. Other highlights include:

- Ideal for exploring sensitive or difficult-to-access areas

- Easy to use and highly maneuverable

- Autonomy of about one hour at maximum power

- No noise or fumes to disturb peaceful enjoyment

- Very little maintenance or upkeep

- Long-term savings

- Unique, ecologically responsible experience

- 2 sizes available: 3.1 m/ 3.4 m with appropriately sized complete Torqeedo drive systems including motor, batteries and charger.

Both models will offer several options including an EVA floor, EVA floor, bimini, rear ladder, storage net, lift kit, Fusion audio system, turboswing, and a tonneau cover.

From Torqeedo managing director Dr. Michael Rummel: “We were thrilled to partner with Zodiac on their eOPEN line of electric RIBs. It’s an iconic, yet an innovative company that has a finger on the pulse of what customers want, and when.”

The new product line is expected to be available in early 2022.
