Yamaha Motor Canada has announced new outboards and engine colours, as well as a significant advancement to the Helm Master EX system, for 2026.
The all-new F130 outboard will set a new benchmark for power-to-weight ratio, making it the lightest and most versatile four-stroke outboard in its class. Weighing in at 172 kg (379 lbs), it’s ideal for everything from mid-sized fishing boats to repowering older vessels. The engine is powered by Yamaha's well-known 1.8L 16-valve DOHC platform.
Yamaha is also expanding its distinctive matte brown outboard family to include the F90 and F115 models, responding to growing demand among Canadian waterfowl hunters, camo enthusiasts, and boaters seeking a custom look. The earth-toned, less reflective finish offers superior concealment in natural settings and serves as an ideal base for personalized camouflaging—no sanding or priming required.
The popular Helm Master EX control system will also see the advancement of a Wireless Control feature giving boat operators the freedom to move around the boat while remaining in complete control at all times.
The centrepiece of Yamaha’s 2026 lineup is the F130, a four-stroke outboard designed for the highly competitive mid-range horsepower segment. The F130 serves as a replacement-ready option for boaters looking to repower an aging two-stroke or early-generation four-stroke engine without adding excessive weight to the transom.
At 172 kg (372 lbs), the F130 is the lightest four-stroke in its class, a key metric for aluminum fishing boats, multi-species rigs, and mid-size fiberglass hulls where balance and hole-shot matter as much as top-end speed. The engine is built around a 1.8-litre, 16-valve DOHC powerhead, delivering strong mid-range torque and responsive acceleration.
Fuel efficiency is another of the F130's keynote features. Yamaha claims it can deliver up to three times the fuel economy of older two-stroke engines, with a potential range of up to 300 kilometres (186 miles) on a 90-litre (23.7 gal) fuel tank, depending on hull and operating conditions. For Canadian boaters covering long distances on large lakes or coastal waters, the improved range translates into fewer fuel stops and more time fishing or cruising.

Tech-wise, the F130 integrates modern electronic controls and charging capacity. Key features include an electronic throttle valve, multi-point EFI, and a 35-amp high-output alternator capable of supporting today’s increasingly electronics-heavy boats. Compatibility with Yamaha Command Link digital gauges and factory anti-theft systems ensures the engine fits seamlessly into both new builds and repower projects.
Noise and emissions were also priorities in the F130’s development. Yamaha also highlighted noise and emissions improvements for quieter operation and reduced exhaust output. Combined with existing corrosion protection and durability standards, the F130 is targeted at owners who keep boats for the long term.
The F130 is available to order now with deliveries expected in spring 2026.

Alongside the F130, Yamaha expanded its matte brown outboard lineup to include the F90 and F115, responding to growing demand from hunters, anglers, and utility boaters seeking low-glare, natural-tone finishes.
Unlike traditional gloss finishes, the matte brown colour scheme is designed to reduce reflectivity and blend into natural surroundings, catering it towards waterfowl hunters and shallow-water anglers. The matte finish also serves as an ideal base for custom camouflage applications without the need for sanding or priming prior to painting or wrapping.
The matte brown colour option now spans 25 to 115 horsepower and Yamaha has also introduced a matching matte brown multi-function tiller handle, giving tiller-steered boats a more cohesive appearance. The matte brown F90 and F115 models are available immediately through Yamaha dealers.
Yamaha has also introduced a significant control upgrade with the Helm Master EX Wireless Control System, unveiled during the Vancouver International Boat Show.
The handheld controller provides full joystick functionality, autopilot access, and system monitoring, allowing captains to move freely around the boat while still maintaining control. Designed for single through quint outboard setups, the system supports tasks like docking, anchoring, and line handling without requiring the captain to remain at the helm.

An integrated man-overboard (MOB) system is also built into the wireless control platform, with support for up to eight wearable fobs. In the event of a man overboard, the system can either decelerate the vessel to idle or shut down the engines, depending on conditions. The controller is buoyant, rated for eight hours of use, and can be recharged via a dedicated cradle mounted anywhere on the boat.
The wireless system will be available for dealer installation in spring/summer 2026 on Helm Master EX systems updated to the latest software.
