Sunreef Yachts has revealed its most ambitious project ever -- a 65-metre Explorer catamaran it claims will be "the world’s largest luxury catamaran."
The next nearest catamaran in its class sits a full 18.5 metres (60 feet) shorter.
"This is a yacht to broaden the horizons of an exceptional owner,” says Sunreef founder and CEO Francis Lapp. “I can’t imagine a more comfortable platform for a genuinely ambitious cruising programme."
The Polish shipyard revealed the design at the recent Monaco Yacht Show.
With a gross tonnage of around 1,800 GT, the Explorer 65 is undoubtedly impressive. Even as a multihull, it blends expedition-style functionality with Sunreef's renowned luxury. Made with two steel hulls and an aluminum superstructure, she boasts an impressive fuel capacity of 140,000 liters (36,985 gal) to power four 800 eKW engines, the requisite generators, and two huge 1200 kWh battery banks. Even with her size, she can cruise at a respectable 14 knots with a top speed of 18 knots.
The yacht’s exterior has all the hallmarks of a Sunreef -- a reverse bow profile, flowing lines, and expansive glass to maximize natural light. With the wide-beam, it also offers not only greater stability but even more interior and exterior space.
Inside, it's wide-open aesthetic gives the air of a vessel even larger than it already is. The main deck alone hosts a formal dining area for 14 guests with plenty of room to spare, giving unfettered views across its massive panoramic windows. The upper deck hosts another dining lounge for 12, an L-lounge, and a complete bar for socializing. If that's not enough, a Jacuzzi tub within the aft rail provides another relaxing hangout. The bridge deck may have the best social perk of all -- a moon-shaped bar enclosed in glass.
When night draws in, 12 guests can find accommodations across seven cabins, plus room for an additional 22 crew. The owner's suite sits on the upper deck in the forward section with an expected king size bed, walk-in closet, full ensuite bathroom with his and hers stations, and a private deck lounge. Remaining guests can find their solitude in two additional cabins aft of the master suite, plus an additional four cabins on the main deck.
Even amidst all the size and luxury, her most striking feature of the Explorer is likely the unique A-frame crane system for deploying and storing tenders and submersibles. The Explorer has room for up a 13.7 meter (45 foot) tender, meaning there's plenty of room within her unique multi-hull design to accommodate extra toys.
The same stern layout that allows for the crane also offers a massive beach club. Two fold-down platforms on either side create a massive station for lounging, swimming, or preparing for an outing aboard a tender or water toy. An expansive 6-meter (19-foot) swimming pool on the main deck also provides another option for getting wet.
Sunreef is well versed in the superyacht market, but have made it clear they believe the emerging 'supercat market' is the smart choice for refined buyers. According to them, "the global superyacht market is reaching record highs, with demand for larger and more versatile yachts continuing to climb. Within this surge, the super cat has emerged as one of the most sought-after choices. Owners and charter clients alike are gravitating toward multihulls for their unrivalled living space, long-range efficiency, and eco-friendly potential."
The company has also led the charge in both sustainability and luxury in recent years, having launched their Solar Skin 3.0 and partnering with performance tuning company BRABUS on a new line of luxury catamarans.
