The 2021 Regal 42 FXO

Regal Boats took the opportunity afforded by one of this year's rare public events, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, to unveil the all-new 42 FXO Flybridge. The flagship model is equipped with a stack of luxury features and artisan craftsmanship that make a definitive statement regarding Regal's standing within its class. The new announcement only adds to the growing momentum, as the company unveiled the all-new 36 Grande Coupe and 36 XO in an online virtual event in July that drew an industry-wide audience.

From tip to tail, the 42 FXO is a showpiece for the signature style befitting a Regal. From the top, the flybridge carries a full-service helm, including a 22" glass cockpit display or optional dual 16" displays with full joystick maneuvering capability, as well as a multi-position Regal-class UltraLounge™, a complete L-lounge, and enough storage on the bridge to support any need.

The upper salon has a matching full-service helm, a posh galley, and enough floorspace to host large parties for entertainment. Large single-piece windows surrounding the salon provide ample natural light and the ever-desired 360 view. A pair of sliding glass doors delineate the salon from smartly designed aft-patio seating, a galley, and an outdoor grilling area that's seamlessly interwoven into a single entertainment space.

Below deck, an open-air atrium creates a rarely-found sense of spaciousness when descending to the lower level. Significant natural sunlight generated by well-engineered window placement puts a shine on handcrafted cabinetry and a refreshment center outlaid with quality appliances. A fully appointed head has ultra-modern finishes and is benefitted by a spacious walk-in shower.

The forward stateroom carries a queen island berth with walk-around space on both sides, while the aft stateroom boasts a legitimate king size bed. In addition, should you have the need, the king size bed splits into an available dual-twin layout. Ample storage abounds in both staterooms, preventing clutter on available floor and counterspace while keeping the air of an ultra-modern minimalist design.

In the company press release, North American Sales Manager Jake Kuck added: “We’ve never had a flagship model with this much versatility, storage, performance, or comfort, and the list of standard features is exciting. The triple Yamaha 425s move this 42’ flybridge at nearly 50 mph, and because it doesn’t have IPS power, we’ve been able to utilize that space to create an unmatched storage area that’s full-beam wide, 42” tall, and nearly 6’ deep. That’s enough room for your beach cruiser bicycles and more. There are different cabin layouts for even more versatility, and with the standard Seakeeper, this new model ensures that everyone’s boxes are checked. And,  saving the best for last, here’s my favorite part of the 42 FXO. Thanks to the outboards and hull design, you can stern-in only steps away from your favorite beach or sandbar.”

Here are the basic specs for the 42 FXO:

The 42 FXO will garner attention leading into 2021, although opportunities for in-person tours may be limited with the continued cancellation of North American boat shows. Nonetheless, serious boaters looking to explore the capabilities of mid-size yachting and overnighting would be wise to explore the 42 FXO. On the bright side, advancements in virtual boat buying created by current needs gives potential owners the opportunity to design their next Regal using an interactive online build tool.
