The late Jimmy Buffett’s former 90-foot explorer yacht DoubleYou is set to go under the hammer this August, giving fans and boating enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of maritime and musical history. Many boaters are well-acquainted with Buffett's other vessel, the Last Mango -- a common sight around coastal South Carolina. The custom Freeman Boatworks catamaran attracted as much attention for its unique design as it did its famous owner.

While fewer boaters may be familiar with DoubleYou, the Margaritaville maestro had a keen eye for yachts, not just fishing boats, and his unique style resonates throughout the explorer yacht's entire length. When under Buffett's ownership, the vessel was ran under the name Continental Drifter II. It was renamed DoubleYou when purchased by the current owner before Buffett's death in 2023.

From Stage to Sea

For those looking for a new ride with epic beach vibes, the 90-foot (25 m) explorer yacht is set for a 24-hour no-reserve auction through West Palm Beach-based G3 Auctions starting September 4th, 2025 at 11 am. Designed by the renowned Tom Fexas, the yacht was previously in Thailand and flying under the Singapore flag. The current minimum bid is set at $1.2 million. It is currently docked in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. "Although I’ve enjoyed plenty of time aboard DoubleYou, it’s time for her to have a new owner," the yacht's current owner said in a statement to the Daily News. "I chose to auction because it’s a more aggressive method of sale, and lets buyers know I’m serious about selling."

"With auctions, who knows what the yacht will sell for," said Guy Masters, founder and president of G3 Auctions. "It’s an incredible opportunity. That’s the beauty of auctions."

According to lore, Buffett spent ample time aboard DoubleYou and wrote several hit songs while rolling along the high seas.

Later in his life, the DoubleYou became akin to his personal floating oasis. Buffett cruised extensively through the Bahamas and Caribbean, using the yacht as a sanctuary to relax, write, and enjoy time with friends and family.

Built for Adventure and Comfort

Designed for long-range exploration, DoubleYou features a 90-foot (27.44 m) steel hull and an impressive 22-foot (6.6 m) beam. She’s powered by twin Caterpillar 3406E diesel engines, each delivering 475 horsepower, giving her a massive range of over 4,000 nautical miles.

The explorer-style layout can sleep up to eight guests across four cabins, including a full-beam master suite, and carries a crew of up to four. Onboard amenities include a spacious main salon, a shaded aft deck for al fresco dining, a large sundeck with panoramic views, and a hydraulic swim platform for easy water access.

One of her prized features is a unique crow's nest that provides an epic view from atop the superstructure. According to lore, the singer was known to spend time in the nest, not just for admiring the view but also with a guitar as a songwriting sanctuary.

Buffett also made several customizations during his ownership, including upgraded AV systems, a beachy interior refresh, and the installation of solar panels to support off-grid living.

The vessel underwent a major refit in 2020 as well.

"DoubleYou for me is a wonderful opportunity for someone looking to have autonomy at sea in comfort and ease without a hefty price tag," said Cassidy Woods of breezeYachting, a listing broker with the auction, said in a statement to the Daily News.

The Legacy of a Boating Icon

Buffett passed away in September 2023 at age 76 after a private battle with Merkel cell carcinoma. His death generated a massive outpouring of tributes from fans, musicians, and boaters who celebrated his music and well-known zest for life.

Since his passing, interest in Buffett memorabilia — and anything connected to his classic island lifestyle — has surged. Everything from custom surfboards to rare recordings have become expensive collector's items and a prized tribute to one of boating's best-known adventurers. But few artifacts carry as much emotional weight as DoubleYou.

DoubleYou isn't merely a boat -- it's part of a legacy filled with sunsets, songs, and salty air.

Those looking to place a bid or arrange a viewing of DoubleYou can contact G3 Auctions in West Palm Beach.
