Gordon Bay Marine Purchased by Maple Leaf Marinas

Gordon Bay Marine on Lake Joseph

One of the most recognizable marinas in Ontario's cottage country is about to be under new ownership.

Gordon Bay Marine, which resides on the shores of the fabled Lake Joseph in Muskoka, has entered into an agreement to be purchased by Maple Leaf Marinas.

Maple Leaf, which is based to the west of Muskoka in the Georgian Bay region of the Great Lakes, has been ambitiously moving into cottage country over the last two years. In November 2020, they purchased Walker's Point Marina on Lake Muskoka outside of the town of Gravenhurst. Walker's Point is one of the busiest and largest marinas in South Muskoka and serves as Canada's largest Cobalt dealer.

In April of 2022, they acquired three other Muskoka locations in one swoop, adding Baysville Marina (Lake of Bays), Huntsville Marine (Fairy Lake), and Wawautosa Trading Post & Marine (Six Mile Lake).

With the addition of Gordon Bay Marine, Maple Leaf now holds prime real estate in all four quadrants of the larger Muskoka region and has locations on two of the 'Big Three' lakes (Lake Muskoka and Lake Joseph). The third lake still outstanding is Lake Rosseau.

Gordon Bay has a longstanding connection to the local community, and has long relationships with boat manufacturers including Bayliner, Boston Whaler, Donzi, J-Craft, Lund, Malibu, Monterey, Rossiter, and more.

A statement from Gordon Bay President Bruce Hatherly was posted on social media on Wednesday:

Maple Leaf Marinas now has 15 locations throughout the Georgian Bay and Muskoka region. The acquisition is set to be finalized in mid-January 2023.
