The Country Music Crossover Continues as Sea-Doo Links up with Niko Moon for "Seaside Sessions"
Somewhere over the last 20 years, the recreational boating community seemingly tossed yacht rock aside in favour of a new preferred soundtrack -- country music.
The evidence is all over the Billboard charts, with a steady stream of country hits regaling in the beauty of boating -- beaches, sunshine, cold drinks, good friends, and a barely contained sense of adventure.
Songs like "Redneck Yacht Club" and "Buy Me A Boat" by Blake Shelton and Chris Janson, respectively, have been rocking the dock party far more often than Christopher Cross and Hall & Oates.
Times have changed.
Sea-Doo has picked on the trend and linked up with country music artist Niko Moon for his latest video "These Are The Days."
The video was filmed partially aboard Sea-Doo's innovative and highly adaptable Switch pontoon boat.
The Switch model is built around a tri-hull pontoon configuration with a flooring system Sea-Doo calls LinQ Cargo Tiles. The tiles also allow users to swap out accessories as needed, change seating configurations, or make storage easier by simply removing accessories for the off-season. The flat-bottom design of the seats, tables, storage bins, and other accessories mean they can be moved around the deck or even onto land if users go ashore and want to bring accessories for things like a dock party or a BBQ.
Or on this case, a country music video.
Sea-Doo said in their press release about the partnership: "As one of the most versatile and adaptable boats on the water, the Switch is the perfect venue for the artist, as he can reconfigure his stage for whatever the moment dictates."
In addition to his solo career, Moon has written eight # 1 songs and over 40 major record label tracks for artists including Morgan Wallen, Avicii, Dierks Bentley, Pitbull, Zac Brown Band, and Rascal Flatts. He also co-produced the Zac Brown Band albums, Jekyll+Hyde and Welcome Home, and was recently named a SESAC country songwriter of the year.
In the months to come, Niko will be releasing a special series called “Seaside Sessions,” which will include tracks recorded and filmed aboard his Sea-Doo Switch.
Originally from Tyler, Texas, the country singer now resides in Nashville with his wife Anna Moon and their daughter Lily Ann. Before breaking out for a solo career in 2019, Moon was a member of Sir Rosevelt alongside fellow artists Zac Brown and Ben Simonetti. Moon's first single "Good Time" went to # 1 on country radio in 2019. One of his other most popular tracks, "Paradise To Me," shows Moon's obvious love for boating and has racked up over 83 million views on YouTube.
